Montrachet Marquis de Laguiche Joseph Drouhin 2002 is produced from the largest parcel within the Montrachet vineyard, located in the southern Côte de Beaune. This 2.06-hectare estate has been family-owned since 1776, with the Drouhin family managing its cultivation and vinification since 1947. The 2002 vintage reflects the warm and dry conditions of that year, leading to fully ripened grapes which contribute to the wine`s concentration. Ideal for those wishing to explore the nuances of this esteemed appellation.

- The 2002 Montrachet Grand Cru, a vintage that I had never tasted before, shows extremely well. It has an intense, multifaceted bouquet that offers compelling aromas of dried honey, white flowers and a French patisserie aroma, all beautifully defined. The palate has the weight and density one expects from a Montrachet. It feels very harmonious, with a spicy front end and a persistent, oyster-shell-tinged back end. This is a very convincing Montrachet that appears to be aging with real style. Tasted at La Paulée in Beaune.
