The highly prized Grand Cru vineyard ‘Montrachet’ is situated between the villages of Puligny- and Chassagne-Montrachet, in the Côte de Beaune subregion. The terroir here is characterized by its rich chalky soil, abundant stony content, and excellent drainage. Louis Jadot`s Montrachet is meticulously crafted from hand-harvested Chardonnay grapes, undergoing a gentle pressing and fermentation in oak barrels, followed by a 15-month maturation period. The result is a full-bodied, nuanced wine, featuring notes of peaches, white blossoms, and hints of honey.

Pungent, very ripe aromas of spiced apple, marzipan, honey and hazelnut. Large-scaled, round and impressively rich, but with slightly disjointed flavors of superripe fruits, nuts and fresh herbs. Very full but not heavy. This seemed to harmonize a bit with aeration and should be superb with extended bottle aging, but I wouldn't broach a bottle now (if you do, pour it into a carafe). From the Chassagne side and thus a bit less vibrant, especially in the 2005 vintage.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2007

Broad, rich, monumental on the nose. Sleek and rich and so round and full. SO much more than Chardonnay! Wonderful texture and great intensity of flavour that is only just starting to open out but is clearly all there and already much more expressive than the Chevalier. Long and verging on oleaginous it’s so pleasing… (JR)Jancis Robinson5th August 2007
