Montrachet Henri Boillot 2023 is a Grand Cru Chardonnay from the legendary Montrachet vineyard in Burgundy. This wine exhibits a commanding yet elegant profile that is a hallmark of Henri Boillot`s work, which prioritises purity of fruit and mineral tension. The 2023 shows a powerful, tightly wound concentration of pure limestone white fruit, layers of spice and a suggestion of salinity. It possesses a fullish, muscular texture complemented by ample, lemon-tinged acidity and substantial weight on the palate.
Vinous
The 2023 Montrachet Grand Cru is elegance personified. Supple and aromatic, with gorgeous finesse, the 2023 caresses the palate like silk. Crushed flowers, chamomile, spice, mint, tropical fruit unfurl in the glass. Boillot’s Montrachet is on the understated side, with all the elements in the right place.Antonio Galloni1st February 2025

Father and Son

In some ways, Henri Boillot has one foot in the past and one in the present. His family domaine, which he manages with his son Guillaume, has a history dating back to the 1880s, but the wines produced from their Meursault-based winery are undeniably modern, approachable and ranked among some of the very best in the region. Alongside operating a highly successful négociant business, the Boillot family own around 14 hectares of vineyards in the Côte de Beaune including a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru monopole in the form of Clos de la Mouchère.

The winery don't shy away from the use of new oak and any overtly woody character is generally well balanced by ripe fruit. The Chardonnays range from citrus driven and fresher at the villages level all the way to ripe, tropical and creamy at the Grand Cru level. The reds are lighter and more elegant than they used to be with Henri's son Guillaume preferring a less extracted style of Pinot Noir.
