The 1999 Montrachet from Domaine Etienne Sauzet presents a precise representation of Grand Cru white Burgundy, derived exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. Sourced from a select 0.06-hectare parcel on the Chassagne-Montrachet side of the renowned Montrachet Grand Cru vineyard, this wine reflects the complexity of its illustrious terroir. The aromatic profile includes notes of ripe citrus and subtle floral undertones, accompanied by hints of toasted nuts. The palate features a concentrated texture, with underlying minerality and a deft acidity. Domaine Etienne Sauzet, established in 1897, is noted for its commitment to traditional winemaking techniques, ensuring a genuine expression of the vineyard`s characteristics.

Complex nose melds pineapple, acacia flower, cut hay, oak spices and an intriguing musky component. Large-scaled and rich; powerful and silky. A very concentrated, solidly structured wine with an almost three-dimensional texture. Strong flavor of ripe pineapple. This is 13.6% alcohol without chaptalization.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2001
