The Montrachet DRC 2002 is a Grand Cru white Burgundy, exclusively made from Chardonnay. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, established in 1869, is renowned for its meticulous vineyard management and dedication to terroir. This particular vintage reflects the distinct characteristics of its vineyard, which spans 0.67 hectares within Montrachet, situated on the Chassagne-Montrachet side. The vines, averaging over 60 years in age, thrive in shallow, stony limestone soils. This combination results in a wine with notable structure and the potential for extended ageing, appealing to serious collectors and connoisseurs alike.

The 2002 Montrachet is not especially notable in this tasting, its showing clouded by the memory of a spectacular bottle tasted last year. There is plenty of richness in the orange peel, crème brulée and apricot jam flavors. At the same time, this bottle is a touch evolved and also short on the palate.
