Montrachet Domaine Leflaive 2006 is a Grand Cru white Burgundy made from Chardonnay, sourced from a small parcel in the prestigious Montrachet vineyard. Domaine Leflaive, known for its commitment to biodynamic practices, has historically championed terroir-driven wines from across the Côte de Beaune. This vintage presents a nose featuring ripe citrus, white floral notes and a hint of toasted nuts. On the palate, it displays depth with concentrated fruit and a linear minerality, underscored by a refreshing acidity. The wine promises longevity and reflects the intricate nature of an esteemed Montrachet.

- Very ripe aromas of peach and apricot; this is slow to reveal itself. Thick and rich in texture but still youthfully tight and showing cooler notes of menthol, mint and dried flowers. This is very ripe and impressively dense, but does it have enough energy and verve to make a great Montrachet?

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
