The 2005 Montrachet from Leflaive boasts an elegant and complex nose featuring raspberry and crema gelato notes. The palate unfolds with blood orange and grapefruit, accompanied by a bitter citrus tang that imparts a refreshing mouthfeel. The wine displays remarkable depth and power, culminating in an impressive caramel finish that lingers and intensifies after each sip.

- Wonderfully complex nose combines stone fruits, flint, minerals, clove, vanilla and earth. Remarkably solid, palate-saturating wine boasts almost painful intensity of mineral, fruit and smoky oak flavors. Still a bit youthfully imploded, and not the broadest wine in the cellar today, but then true Montrachet also takes its time to unfold. Subtle, resounding finish boasts terrific verve. Potentially great. There are just one and a half barrels of this juice (the full barrel is new).

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
