Château Monbousquet is a wine producer based in Saint-Émilion, which has been ranked as a Grand Cru Classé since 2006. The estate covers approximately 32 hectares, and the average age of the vines is 42. This is the 2018 vintage of its Grand Vin, a Merlot-dominant blend which is still quite young. The wine boasts an excellent structure with plenty of room for all the elements to integrate over the coming years.

The Monbousquet 2018 has a deep garnet purple color. It gallops out with notes of stewed red and black plums, wild blueberries, and garrigue, plus touches of smoked meats and tobacco. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is firm and taut with ripe, grainy tannins and great length. Lisa Perrotti-Brown9th February 2023

The 2018 Monbousquet has an attractive bouquet, quite upfront and showy, featuring blackberry, iodine and light rose petal aromas. Leaving it aside for an hour, attractive boysenberry jam scents develop. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannins and sour cherry flavors mixed with dark chocolate and sage. I must say that I find this dry on the finish, and it doesn’t really flesh out with aeration. I will be cautious with my score based on this showing. Neal Martin21st March 2021
