Monbousquet 2010 presents a structured profile typical of its estate, which spans 80 acres in St-Emilion. The blend comprises 70% Merlot, with the remainder primarily Cabernet Franc and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon. This vintage showcases notes of dark fruits, subtle herbal hints and earthy undertones. The mouthfeel is ample and layered, with a measured tannic presence and balanced acidity. Monbousquet is overseen by renowned winemaker Alain Raynaud, who aims to enhance the essence of St-Emilion terroir through thoughtful vinification. The wine is expected to age well over the next decade.

The 2010 Monbousquet has plenty of blackberry, boysenberry jam and fig aromas on the intense nose, well defined with hints of dried honey in the background. It improves with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip, plenty of body and depth with multi-layered black fruit, tobacco and white pepper notes, leading to a slightly tarry, grippy finish. This could be a long-term proposition. Tasted blind at Farr Vintners 10-Year On Bordeaux horizontal.
