Domaine Leflaive is renowned for its white wines, particularly from the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. They are also known for their commitment to organic and biodynamic viticulture and meticulous winemaking practices, which result in wines of exceptional quality and finesse. This release hails from Sous le Dos d`Âne, a Premier Cru where Leflaive owns a 1.26-hectare plot. The 2022 vintage proves to be highly promising, showcasing Burgundy`s ability to maintain its distinctive character even in the presence of increasingly extreme weather conditions.

- The 2022 Meursault Sous Le Dos d'Ane 1er Cru is clean and precise on the nose with hazelnut and light fumé aromas. The bouquet is focused and gains intensity with aeration. The palate is fresh and saline, a little Puligny-like in terms of the green apples towards the brisk, sapid finish. Lovely.

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
