Domaine Leflaive Meursault Sous Le Dos d`Âne 2015 is a full-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Premier Cru climat of Sous Le Dos d`Âne in the Côte de Beaune. Now led by Brice de la Morandière, Domaine Leflaive is one of the most influential estates in Puligny-Montrachet. The estate focuses almost entirely on white wines made from Chardonnay, including four Grand Cru and four Premier Cru expressions. This cuvée is from the Meursault 1er Cru of Sous Le Dos d`Âne (meaning `under the donkey`s back`), a small vineyard area located just above the scrub above the top 1er Cru of Les Perrières. "There is a touch of matchstick character to the floral and citrus aromas that introduce the intense, well-detailed and nicely concentrated flavours that exude a subtle minerality on the clean, dry and focused finale. This should drink well after only a few years of age but repay 6 to 8." Burghound, 2017

Musky, very ripe but subdued aromas of apricot, mirabelle, spices and marzipan. Full, ripe and sweet, but with strong balancing orange-juice acidity. A rather powerful but youthfully disjointed village wine with a firm, dry finish.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2017

Domaine Leflaive

The pinnacle of Puligny-Montrachet

Founded in the 18th century, Domaine Leflaive has built a storied reputation for its commitment to biodynamic farming and exceptional craftsmanship. The estate owns 22 hectares of vineyards, including 10 hectares of Premiers Crus in Puligny-Montrachet (Les Combettes, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Folatières), as well as no fewer than 5 hectares of Grands Crus (Chevalier-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet, Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, and a tiny holding in Le Montrachet).

Joseph Leflaive, whose vision and dedication in the early 20th century were pivotal, transformed the domaine into a symbol of excellence. In the 1990s, Anne-Claude Leflaive introduced biodynamic practices, adhering to rigorous standards that respect the natural rhythms of the earth, promoting soil health and vine vitality without synthetic chemicals. This holistic approach results in Chardonnay wines celebrated for their purity, depth, and complexity. Each bottle reflects the rich heritage and innovative spirit that have made Domaine Leflaive a revered name among wine enthusiasts.
