Meursault Perrières Bouchard 2014 is a Premier Cru white Burgundy from the renowned vineyard of Les Perrières. This vintage is part of the esteemed Bouchard Père & Fils portfolio, which has roots dating back to 1731, making it one of the region`s oldest wineries. The vineyard is characterised by its limestone-rich soils, which contribute to the wine`s structure and minerality. The 2014 vintage in Burgundy benefited from a warm growing season, allowing the Chardonnay to develop complexity. The wine exhibits a pale gold hue, with aromas of citrus and subtle floral notes. Its palate is precise, showcasing a linear, mineral-driven profile with a persistent finish.

The 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières, raised in a judicious 15% new French oak, has a powerful, punchy bouquet that puts the Genevrières 2014 in the shade. This races out of the blocks with dried pineapple, citrus and stony notes, quite extravagant and whilst not delivering the same killer level of mineralité as others, it does put a smile on your face. The palate is well balanced with a keen line of acidity, just a hint of lemon zest flanked by dried apricot and grilled walnut notes. It gambols along to what feels like quite an intense finish. This is excellent...brash but excellent.Neal Martin29th January 2016

Bright, light yellow. Deeply pitched nose offers fresh apricot, iodiney minerality and a complicating leesy nuance. A broad, fat, mineral bath on the palate, with its ripe, sweet peach flavor nicely countered by firm acidity. Less harmonious and smooth than the Genevrières today, this wine needs time to meld its sweet fruit elements and acidity. But the long, rising finish augurs well for longevity.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2016

Timeless legacy in Burgundy’s heart

Established in 1731, Maison Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest and largest wine estates in the Côte d’Or. In 1995, the estate was acquired by the Henriot family, whose portfolio also includes William Fèvre, Beaux Frères, Château de Poncié and Champagne Henriot. Bouchard boasts vineyard holdings totalling approximately 130 hectares, including 74ha of Premiers Crus and 12ha of Grand Crus, with as many as 450 different individual plots. While the maison’s vast mosaic of holdings are weighted towards the Côte de Beaune, the Côte de Nuits is also a major focus.

The maison’s original vineyard was purchased by Joseph Bouchard in Volnay Les Caillerets in 1775. Not long after Beaune Grèves Vigne de l’Enfant Jesus followed. Now one of four Bouchard monopole vineyards, Beaune Grèves Vignes de l’Enfant Jésus was once owned by the Carmelite order of nuns and is the source of Bouchard’s flagship wine. Bouchard’s extensive suite of wines is produced and aged at the state-of-the-art, gravity-fed Cuverie Saint Vincent in Savigny-lès-Beaune. Once bottled, the wines are stored beneath the historic Château de Beaune, built in the 15th century by King Louis XI and purchased by Bernard Bouchard in 1820.

With almost 300 years of savoir-faire, from its unrivalled multiplicity of terroirs, Bouchard stands as one of the most eminent names in Burgundy winemaking.
