Based in Meursault, Domaine Matrot is a family-owned property currently run by sisters Elsa and Adèle. The estate produces both red and white Burgundy, including a Bourgogne Aligoté. This release comes from the Domaine’s plot in the Meursault Premier Cru Les Perrières, where the average age of the vines is 60 years. The 2001 vintage was particularly successful for Meursault, which are both concentrated and have good acidity.

Withdrawn but pure aromas of lemon, spices and wet stone. Sweeter and fatter in the middle palate than the Combettes, with compelling fruit flavors of peach, lemon, grapefruit and pineapple complicated by firm minerality. Very ripe, sweet and long on the finish. Serious stuff.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2003
