Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Meursault Les Charmes 2011 is a medium-bodied Burgundy white wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Charmes in the Meursault appellation of the Côte de Beaune. The Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey estate was formed in 2001 when Pierre-Yves Colin and his wife Caroline Morey – both from Burgundy winemaking families – joined forces. Today they produce wines from approximately 13 hectares of vineyards, situated in the villages of Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, where this Premier Cru release comes from. "The 2011 Meursault Charmes is another absolutely classic Colin-Morey wine. Intensely mineral and tense, the 2011 boasts fabulous focus, not to mention tremendous overall balance. In 2011, Colin-Morey`s Perrieres is quite Charmes-like, while the Charmes has much more of the mineral-drenched intensity and pure power that I generally associate with Perrieres. There is a lot going on in the 2011 Meursault Charmes." Vinous, 2013

(from 40-year-old vines in between Lafon's two parcels, according to Colin): Captivating aromas of pineapple, lemon, tangerine, linden flower, exotic herbs and minerals. A step up in texture from the foregoing samples, with a lemon cream flavor framed by penetrating but harmonious acidity. Very rich, deep wine with the balance to give early pleasure but the acid cut and stony minerality to age gracefully. Showing beautifully today but there's more to come.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2013

Minimalist approach to Burgundy wines

Established in Chassagne-Montrachet in 2001 through the collaboration of Pierre-Yves Colin and his wife Caroline Morey (both hailing from historic Burgundy winemaking families) the Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey estate comprises approximately 13 hectares of vineyards across the appellations Saint-Aubin, Chassagne-Montrachet, Santenay, Puligny-Montrachet, and Meursault.

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey is the eldest son of St-Aubin winemaker Marc Colin. Since leaving his family domaine in 2005 to launch his own winery, Pierre-Yves has become one of the most-lauded winemakers on the Côte d'Or. His approach is very much minimal-interventionist: no batonnage for whites; minimal racking and extended élévage across the board.

Pierre-Yves’ vineyard holdings are centred on the Côte de Beaune appellation of St-Aubin (including the Premiers Crus of Chatèniere, Champlots and Remilly) and Chassagne-Montrachet (including the Premiers Crus of Chenevottes and Caillerets).

Pierre-Yves’ cellar is shared with his wife, Caroline Morey. The daughter of Jean-Marc Morey, whose family has cultivated vines in Chassagne since the 16th century, Caroline created her own domaine in 2014.
