Meursault La Goutte d`Or 2005 from Arnaud Ente is a Premier Cru Chardonnay from the Meursault appellation. This wine originates from a single vineyard known for its clay-limestone soils. Arnaud Ente emphasises low intervention winemaker and organic farming practices, allowing the terroir to express itself. The wine features aromas of ripe stone fruits, interspersed with nut and subtle spice elements. On the palate, it presents a full, rich texture with an underlying acidity that enhances its structure – showcasing flavours of ripe pear and citrus, with marked concentration characteristic of this ripe vintage.

Superripe aromas of dried fruits complicated by white flowers and a peppery nuance. Then distinctly less fleshy and generous in the middle palate than the Petits Charrons, with the peppery quality carrying through in the mouth. Markedly different in texture and style, and in need of patience.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2007

Balance and Complexity

A leading light in Meursault, Burgundy, Arnaud Ente and his wife, Marie-Odile craft exquisite micro-production Burgundies that easily compete with the finest in the region. The Domaine owns four hectares which are managed with a very small and hands-on team. The key grape varieties here are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, used to produce stand out Meursault, Puligny Montrachet and Bourgogne Pinot Noir that are renowned for their precision and elegance.

The style has tended towards the opulent, with late picking for fuller ripeness being a key part of Arnaud's philosophy in the 1990s. More recently though the wines have presented with greater levels of freshness and minerality as the winemaking practices have changed and evolved.
