Domaine Yves Boyer-Martenot Meursault-Genevrières 2002 is a mature-vintage white Burgundy from the Premier Cru of Genevrières in the Meursault appellation of the Côte de Beaune. Vincent Boyer uses only indigenous yeast in the cellar and minimises the use of new wood and sulphur dioxide. This results in remarkably pure Chardonnays which express the terroir of from some of the best vineyard sites in Meursault. Meursault Genevrières is a premier cru climat located at the southern end of the commune of Meursault among a cluster of other highly rated Premiers Crus. This east and southeast-facing vineyard is one of the warmer growing sites Meursault and is renowned for producing some of the finest Chardonnays of the Côte de Beaune. These ageworthy wines are distinctly rich, buttery and full-bodied with notes of hazelnuts and citrus, and a core of fine minerality.
89 Vinous
Pure aromas of lemon and yellow plum, with complicating notes of honey and vanilla. Rich but a bit youthfully clenched, with surprising cut for this bottling. But not really expressive today, and uncompromisingly dry on the back. Perhaps in an awkward stage today.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2004

Proper floral scent, though a bit earthbound. Texture a bit grainy as opposed to creamy. (JR)Jancis Robinson28th January 2004
