Louis Jadot is one of the most consistent growers and négociants in Burgundy, offering a vast portfolio of wines – from easy-drinking, accessible Bourgogne to complex, age-worthy Grand Cru expressions. The company is today run by Pierre-Henri Gagey, assisted by head winemaker Frédéric Barnier. This particular release hails from Genevrières, a Premier Cru site of the Meursault appellation planted entirely to Chardonnay. The vineyard boasts chalky soils with white marl which are best suited to the Chardonnay grape. The 1999 vintage produced white Burgundy that are rich and concentrated, with buttery tones. Drinking well now.

Ripe, leesy aromas of lime leaf, verbena tea and smoke. Fresh, floral and perfumed in the mouth, with the depth of flavor to buffer the wine malic acid component. This actually has the same acidity as the Charmes, but the acids are more thoroughly integrated, giving the wine a better early balance and sweetness.
