Vinous
(just finished its malolactic fermentation but not yet sulfited): Ripe but subdued aromas of yellow fruits and spices. Round and savory, with the flavors of fresh apricot and mirabelle conveying good texture but only moderate depth. Turned fatter and spicier with air but could use more cut and lift. This may be in a slightly oxidative phase today. While half of these vines were planted in 1998, the other half date back to 1945, which Marc Bachelet says makes them among the oldest vines in Meursault. Stephen Tanzer1st September 2018

Rising Stars

Founded by rising stars Marc and Alexandre Bachelet in 2005, Domaine Bachelet Monnot manage 10 hectares of vines in the communes in Maranges, Santenay and Puligny-Montrachet. The focus is on traditional techniques, terroir-led winemaking - 50% new oak is used for Grand Cru wines, but employed to a lesser extent for Premier Cru and Village-level wines.

Key vineyards for Bachelet Monnot in Maranges are La Fussière, which they produce in both red and white, and Clos de la Boutière. In Puligny-Montrachet, Marc and Alexandre produce Premier Crus Les Referts and Folatières along with Grand Crus Bienvenues-Bâtard Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet.
