Based in Meursault, Domaine Matrot is a family-owned property currently run by sisters Elsa and Adèle. The estate produces both red and white Burgundy, including a Bourgogne Aligoté. This release comes from ‘Les Charmes’, one of Meursault’s largest Premier Crus, where Matrot owns 4 plots. The wine is aged for 15 months in oak barrels on its lees, followed by a 3-month period in stainless steel tanks before bottling. 2002 is deservedly a popular vintage among Burgundy aficionados, and the remaining available wines are in a great spot right now.

Vinous
Cool aromas of lemon ice and mint. Then brisk and penetrating, with citrus-dominated flavors of lemon cream and grapefruit. This has sneaky depth. The grapefruit and spice finish shows a youthful bitter edge that's very refreshing.Stephen Tanzer1st September 2004
