Meursault Charmes Ballot-Millot 2017 is a Premier Cru Chardonnay from the Côte de Beaune. The Charmes-Dessus parcel used for this wine features very shallow soils over a limestone base, yielding a style that is often more mineral than typical for this site. It reveals a bouquet of citrus blossom, hazelnut and wet stone, while the mouthfeel is broad but disciplined, carrying flavours of lime and toasted grain. The mineral-forward nature of the soil defines the character of this particular parcel.

The 2017 Meursault 1er Cru Charmes derives from an optimally located parcel that`s surrounded by the holdings of Domaine des Comtes Lafon and Domaine Tessier. Displaying notes of crisp Anjou pear, green apple, warm pastry and a subtle touch of reduction, the wine is medium to full-bodied, concentrated and elegantly muscular, with lively acids and a long, precise finish. - William Kelley

The 2017 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru has a serious, taut, mineral-driven bouquet, one of the most understated within the lineup of Charmes. The palate is taut and linear like the nose, a doppelgänger for a Puligny-Montrachet, brimming with tension and energy but with just a little shrillness on the finish that will have to be addressed with bottle maturation. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune. Neal Martin1st August 2021

Creamy lemon after the more herbal Narvaux. Tighter on the palate, almost lean but just in balance.
