Meursault Charmes Antoine Jobard 2016 is a Chardonnay from one of Burgundy`s esteemed terroirs. The Charmes vineyard is renowned for its well-drained, limestone-rich soils, which contribute to a complex flavour profile. A traditionalist winemaker, Antoine Jobard focuses on expressing the unique characteristics of his vineyards while maintaining minimal intervention in the cellar. The 2016 vintage, affected by frost, resulted in lower yields, concentrating the fruit`s character. This wine exhibits notes of citrus, stone fruit and a hint of nuttiness, underpinned by a distinct minerality. The finish is persistent and saline.

Vinous
(Charmes du Bas was hit hard by frost, said Jobard, but the top portion of the vineyard was normal): Bright lemon-yellow. Powerful yellow fruits dominate the nose. Concentrated, tactile and savory; a very dry wine whose Perrières-like wet-stone minerality gives it serious energy and punch. Not overly opulent or rich like some past vintages but shows more material, power and size than the Genevrières. Finishes tactile, salty and long. I might have picked this blind as Perrières.
