Domaine Comtesse de Chérisey Meursault-Blagny La Genelotte 2017 is a Premier Cru white Burgundy from a monopole vineyard situated high above the village. The 2017 vintage is considered one of the finest of the decade for whites, offering a perfect combination of ripeness and structural tension. In the magnum format, the wine’s development is significantly slowed, preserving the primary notes of lemon curd and white flowers while allowing a complex smoky minerality to build. The high altitude of the Blagny plots provides a cooling influence that translates into a vibrating acidity and a lean, focused palate. This magnum is reveals layers of toasted almond and flint, leading to a long, saline finish.

The 2017 Meursault-Blagny 1er Cru La Genelotte is showing beautifully in bottle, unwinding in the glass with aromas of white flowers, crisp green orchard fruit, citrus zest, struck match and oatmeal. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and incisive, it`s tensile and chalky, concluding with a long, elegantly chalky finish. - William Kelley

A monopole of the domaine, consisting of a considerable five hectares, the 2017 Meursault Blagny La Genelottes 1er Cru comes from deep clayey soils that lend freshness and mitigate the stress of dry growing seasons. It is partially aged in lightly toasted 500-liter barrels from Rousseau. The fragrant bouquet of grilled hazelnut, smoke and yellow flowers unfurls gently in the glass, and the harmonious palate is well balanced with beautifully judged acidity and lightly spiced, revealing a dab of ginger toward a finish of lovely length.
