Domaine Jeannin Naltet Mercurey Les Naugues 2022 is a medium-bodied red wine from the Premier Cru climat of Les Naugues in the Mercurey appellation of the Côte Chalonnaise. Jeannin-Naltet is a family-owned domaine, consisting of approximately 9 hectares under vine, all situated in the commune of Mercurey. This release comes from Les Naugues, a renowned, south-facing Mercurey Premier Cru, where the average age of the domaine`s vines is 46 years. The wine was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (30% new). Expect elegance and finesse, with ripe red berry and sous bois notes sustained on a silky, medium-bodied frame.
Vinous
The 2022 Mercurey Les Nauges 1er Cru has a perfumed, floral nose and shows a little more oak than other cuvées from the Jeannin-Naltet. The palate is medium-bodied and quite muscular for a Mercurey; I feel it’s just pushed a bit too much on the finish. Tasted at merchants' 2022 Burgundy tastings in London.

A Rising Star

Family-owned since 1858, Domaine Jeannin-Naltet is an increasingly admired producer of Pinot Noir wines in the Côte Chalonnaise village of Mercurey. The domaine comprises 9ha of vineyards, including 7ha of Mercurey Premiers Crus in the climats of Les Naugues, Le Clos l’Evêque and the monopole of Clos des Grands Voyens. The vines grow on an unbroken piece of land near Mercurey village, with the 4.9ha Clos des Grands Voyens the jewel of the estate, producing exquisite Pinot Noir.

The domaine is managed by sixth-generation vigneron Benoît Eschard, who took over from his uncle and has been progressively improving viticultural practices in order to explore the potential of each vineyard plot. This is resulting in ever more refined wines from this highly respected domaine.
