Mauro 2019 is a Tempranillo-based red wine and the flagship bottling of Bodegas Mauro in Valladolid, in the Castilla y León region of Spain. The Bodegas Mauro winery and vines are located in the village of Tudela del Duero, just outside the official boundary of the Ribera del Duero DO. Founder Mariano García was for many years the head winemaker at Vega Sicilia, where he earned a fine reputation for his intuitive approach to barrel ageing. Mariano has now passed on the baton to his sons, Albert and Eduardo, who continue to produce outstandingly good value red wines principally from Tempranillo. Modern in style and produced with judicious use of both French and American oak, the Mauro cuvée is typically blended with around 10% Syrah and other red varieties. "The 2019 Mauro was selected from their 90 hectares of organically farmed vineyards and fermented in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts. It is mostly Tempranillo with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah that adds freshness and floral aromas. It`s a lighter and more approachable vintage than 2018, a more immediate wine, more approachable but in a way less complex." Wine Advocate
