Duty Charges

Below is a summary of the new duty charges per bottle as of February 2026. Please note that these vary depending on the ABV and are subject to change. Please get in touch if you require more information:

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Masseto is unequivocally a Tuscan icon produced from a celebrated 7ha plot of Merlot. The 2011 vintage was deemed as superb by the critics, receiving very high scores. With the 2011 vintage, Masseto returns to a typically Mediterranean expression of a warm year in the Bolgheri terroir. Yet the overall impression is one of superb balance and measure, notwithstanding the wine’s rich concentration and ripeness. Explosive aromas of gloriously-ripe wild red berry fruit cosseted by hints of toasty oak and dark chocolate. A full-bodied palate impresses with its deep concentration and opulence, displaying remarkably supple, glossy tannins, concluding on a crisp, refreshing finish.

From Italy’s most celebrated 7-hectare plot of Merlot, the 2011 Masseto is a wine of grand and lofty ambitions that happily materialize in the glass. This wine delivers on all the many promises it makes. First is the exceptional quality of the bouquet with seamless integration of dark fruit to spice, to chocolate, to Mediterranean herb. The aromas are presented in kaleidoscope effect so that many bright colors blend into one. Second, is the mouthfeel that is as supple, rich and persistent as you should expect of a wine of this pedigree. Lastly, is the wine’s aging potential that is already evident in terms of the integrated acidity and the richness of the tannins. In fact, the tannins are absolutely gorgeous here: They are silky, refined and delightful. It’s not the greatest Masseto ever made, but it performs beautifully nonetheless. - Monica Larner

The 2011 Masseto is very clearly the product of a warm year. In that sense, it reminds me of the 2003. Black cherry, mocha, chocolate, licorice, espresso and smoke are all super concentrated. The intense heat of the year is also felt in the wine’s large-scaled tannins. Overall, this is a very good wine for the year. When it comes to extreme vintages, however, there is no question Masseto does better in cooler, not hotter, years. Extremely warm, dry conditions resulted in a harvest that started on August 25 and was finished by September 1, the earliest on record here.Antonio Galloni1st January 2020

An extremely hot and early year, giving a strong contrast with the 2014. Immediately exuberant on the nose, with cinammon spice, rosemary herbs, cocoa beans and Autumnal leaf aromatics. The tannins that are less generous than in some vintages, and it significantly improves with time in the glass, when the depth of texture and expression in the black cherry and cassis fruits become clear. An early harvest, with the fruit brought in over just three days at the end of August, this is concentrated and still taut at 10 years old. 100% new oak.Jane Anson7th December 2021

17.5 Jancis Robinson

A warm spring accelerated budburst by 10 days. Cooler weather in June and July then applied a brake. Picked very early, after a hot dry summer, from 25 August to 1 September. Unusually, all the fruit went into the main wine.Big, beefy, baked and broad. A bit austere and dry. Big and less graceful on the finish then some vintages. This wine is impressive more than pleasurable. Awkward. A bit overripe with a grainy, jagged finish. (JR)

A Single Vineyard Super Tuscan

A stand-out name on the Tuscan wine scene, the wines of Masseto are produced from vines first planted in the 1980s. The estate is situated on Italy’s Tuscan Coast, on a magical hillside overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea near the small village of Bolgheri. 'Masseto' was named after the rock-hard clusters of blue clay known as ‘massi’ that form on the vineyard’s surface. Originally the brainchild of Lodovico Antinori, the Masseto estate has been owned by the prestigious Tuscan Frescobaldi family since 2005.

In the words of Estate Director, Axel Heinz, 'At Masseto, we try to do as little as possible to the wines. Our goal is simply to capture the essence of nature and take it to the highest level. This is about an amazing, very challenging, vineyard and wine made with great simplicity. We have tanks. We have barrels. We have gravity flow. And we have people who care about the wine. That’s it. That’s our philosophy.'
