Massetino 2022, crafted during the warm days of this intense vintage, captures the full warmth of the sun in its aromatic profile, reflecting the rich ripening in the vineyard. On the palate, it offers vibrancy and impressive length, drawing you back to the glass to discover its deep, evolving nuances. The finish is marked by a refreshing quality, evoking the coolness of pleasant September evenings. Its firm tannins and juicy red fruit flavors deliver a satisfying fullness that lingers beautifully.

"This is refined and fresh with hints of sandalwood to the beautiful blue fruits. It’s medium-bodied with creamy and polished tannins that frame the blue fruit and hints of crushed stone. Succulent and juicy with a crunchy personality. You want a sip right away. Second wine of the highest quality from Masseto. So drinkable and wonderful. Drink or hold."

The 2022 Massetino is plump, juicy and irrepressibly gorgeous. Succulent dark-toned fruit, new leather and mocha build nicely as this racy, open-knit second wine from Masseto shows off its undeniable charm. This is a relatively understated, delicate edition of Massetino.Antonio Galloni1st December 2024

Masseto

A Single Vineyard Super Tuscan

A stand-out name on the Tuscan wine scene, the wines of Masseto are produced from vines first planted in the 1980s. The estate is situated on Italy’s Tuscan Coast, on a magical hillside overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea near the small village of Bolgheri. 'Masseto' was named after the rock-hard clusters of blue clay known as ‘massi’ that form on the vineyard’s surface. Originally the brainchild of Lodovico Antinori, the Masseto estate has been owned by the prestigious Tuscan Frescobaldi family since 2005.

In the words of Estate Director, Axel Heinz, 'At Masseto, we try to do as little as possible to the wines. Our goal is simply to capture the essence of nature and take it to the highest level. This is about an amazing, very challenging, vineyard and wine made with great simplicity. We have tanks. We have barrels. We have gravity flow. And we have people who care about the wine. That’s it. That’s our philosophy.'
