The Mas de Daumas Gassac 1988 is a mature blended red wine from the IGP Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert in the Languedoc-Roussillon region of France. The 1988 growing season in Aniane featured warm days and occasional rain, allowing for a harvest from mid-September to late September. Winemaking followed classic methods, with extended fermentation in stainless steel and oak aging for 18 months. Mas de Daumas Gassac is known for its pioneering approach to Languedoc terroir expressed through myriad grape varieties.

Very deep blackish colour. Strange new mineral note. Curious! Well melded and intriguing bouquet. Bit spiky on the palate and slightly jagged. The tannins are still furry and obtrude, in striking contrast to the smoothness of the 1987. (JR)
