Duty Charges

Transparent Billing and Rate Calculations

Annual Billing: Clients are invoiced annually based on the wines stored in the preceding year.
Case Equivalents: A case is defined as 9 litres of wine (typically twelve 750ml bottles), ensuring clarity in pricing.
Pro-Rata Charges: Storage fees are charged on a per-bottle basis, and wines stored for part of a month will be billed accordingly.

How to Use Our Bonded Storage

Purchase en primeur or under-bond wines from Hedonism Wines.
Automatically enjoy twelve months of free storage at our bonded storage when you open your storage account.
After twelve months, your storage will continue at the rates outlined above, with quarterly invoicing.
When you are ready to receive your wines, simply request delivery. Most orders are fulfilled within 3-4 working days.

Margaux 2005 is a full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine for the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux. With a history dating back centuries, Château Margaux stands as an icon of winemaking excellence, producing wines that reflect the unique terroir of the appellation. This First Growth estate covers approximately 262 hectares and is owned by the Mentzelopoulos family since the 1970s. The 2005 vintage is available here in magnum format. "In two recent tastings the 2005 Château Margaux has been nothing less than magnificent. A wine of stunning perfume and inner sweetness, the 2005 gradually opens to reveal layers of red-toned fruit intermingled with floral accents. It`s as if all the classic Margaux signatures have been amped up in a huge way. Dehydration on the vine concentrated the fruit, but also the impression of tannin and acid, such that the 2005 retains huge fruit density along with plenty of brightness as well. Vibrant and beautifully layered, the 2005 Grand Vin is off the charts and easily one of the wines of the vintage." Vinous, 2021

The wood is already totally concealed beneath the cascade of fruit in this medium to full-bodied, pure and majestic wine. This concentrated, dense, but nevertheless strikingly elegant, multi-layered wine has a finish of 45+ seconds. It builds incrementally to a crescendo and finale. The 2005 Château Margaux is a First Growth that I had not tasted for several years. According to the estate, it finally began to open during the pandemic. I remember this was stellar in its flush of youth, and earned a three-figure score from the Southwold blind tasting way back in 2009. Now at two decades in age, it has a supremely well-defined bouquet with dense blackberry, mulberry, iron filing and dried blood. The palate is still very youthful—as usual, the 2005 is an amazingly backward Margaux. Very well balanced, this has retained that arching structure uncommon in this First Growth vis-à-vis Latour or Mouton Rothschild. The ferrous finish has a very slight medicinal quality, though it is not as mentholé as the Pavillon Rouge. You can see this still has some way to go, but it is finally beginning to reveal what it can do. Tasted at the château. Neal Martin17th June 2025

A Legacy of Fine Wine

Château Margaux is one of the most striking constructions in the Bordeaux appellation, a large grand house built in the early 18th century on an estate that has been producing fine wine for hundreds of years, with a history dating back to the 12th century Bordeaux wine tradition. Quality was known to fluctuate in the first half of the 20th century, but that period of inconsistency ended with the arrival of wunderkind Paul Pontallier, a talented winemaker who worked nearly 35 vintages and produced some of the greatest wines in living memory. Paul passed on in 2016, and the team is now led by Philippe Bascaules and Sebastien Vergne, with consultancy from Eric Boissenot.

82 hectares are dedicated to red wine vines, with around 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Château Margaux produces around 30,000 cases of wine annually, with the Grand Vin accounting for around 35% of that total. Among their celebrated wines is Pavillon Rouge, the second wine of the estate, which stands as a testament to the estate's commitment to quality.

In addition to their renowned red wines, Château Margaux also produces a limited quantity of Sauvignon Blanc, adding another layer to their esteemed collection of Margaux wines. This white wine complements their offerings and demonstrates the estate’s versatility.
