Located on the Sonoma Coast, Marcassin is the creation of the renowned winemaker Helen Turley and her husband, John Wetlaufer, a viticulturalist. The estate is highly regarded as a benchmark producer of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, and their wines are celebrated for their opulent and age-worthy characteristics. A significant portion of Marcassin`s wine releases is exclusively available to members of their mailing list. The 2006 Marcassin Vineyard Pinot Noir offers a nose filled with scents of dried cherries, mushrooms, dried strawberries, hints of radishes, and a touch of forest underbrush. On the palate, expect flavours of cherries, strawberries, mushrooms, herbal nuances, and an earthy quality. It concludes with a finish that lingers, featuring notes of cherry and earth.
96 Robert Parker
Sweet aromas of ripe cherries, black currants, plums, smoky barbecue, licorice and forest floor jump from the glass of this broad, savory, full-bodied, young, vibrant Pinot Noir. At age eight, it is just beginning to develop secondary nuances. It should continue to evolve for another decade, offering sumptuous drinking for at least 10-15 more years. This is another great success in a fabulous line-up. — Robert Parker, 26th June 2014
