Marcassin Marcassin Vineyard Chardonnay 1996 is a notable expression from the esteemed Marcassin Winery, co-founded by influential winemaker Helen Turley and viticulturist John Wetlaufer. This Chardonnay is sourced entirely from their meticulous 10-acre estate vineyard located in the Sonoma Coast region. The fruit is hand-harvested and whole-cluster pressed, benefiting from a cool maritime climate that enhances its character. Fermented with native yeasts, it spends approximately 12 months in new French oak barrels, remaining on its lees for added complexity. It is bottled without fining or filtering, preserving its true essence.

Vinous
Knockout nose combines brisk lemon, pineapple and mineral notes with leesy spice and coconut cream richness. Succulent and fleshy in the mouth; at once broad and filled in. Extremely suave wine, not at all forced or phenolic. Finishes with extraordinary length and exhilarating soil tones. A great young California chardonnay.Stephen Tanzer1st May 1999
