Founded in 2005, Bachelet-Monnot is a family-owned wine producer based in Dezize-lès-Maranges. The domaine was created by two brothers, Marc and Alexandre Bachelet, after the consolidation of the vineyards held by their father and their uncle. They cultivate a mix of family-owned and leased vineyards, across 20 different appellations. This release is their ‘La Fussière’ 2020, from one of the best premier crus in Maranges. Burgundy 2020 was an exceptional vintage across the board, which produced wines of exceptional freshness and balance.
Vinous
The 2020 Maranges La Fussières 1er Cru Blanc has a vibrant bouquet of fresh grass clipping, gooseberry and citrus peel aromas, taut and somehow a little Muscadet-like. The palate is fresh on the entry and offers a fine bead of acidity and flavors of lime and Granny Smith apples mixed with subtle apricot and white peach notes toward the finish. Real vim and vigor here. Excellent. Neal Martin1st December 2021

The focus is on traditional techniques, terroir-led winemaking - 50% new oak is used for Grand Cru wines, but employed to a lesser extent for Premier Cru and Village-level wines.

Key vineyards for Bachelet Monnot in Maranges are La Fussière, which they produce in both red and white, and Clos de la Boutière. In Puligny-Montrachet, Marc and Alexandre produce Premier Crus Les Referts and Folatières along with Grand Crus Bienvenues-Bâtard Montrachet and Bâtard-Montrachet.
