Malescot-St -Exupéry 2005 is a full-bodied, Cabernet Sauvignon-based red wine from the Margaux appellation of Bordeaux. Château Malescot-St-Exupéry is a Third Growth Margaux property that has been owned by the Zuger family since the 1950s. The estate includes 23 hectares under vine and the best vineyards share the same deep, grave soils as their neighbour Château Margaux. "This is distinctive, with a roasted alder streak running through an enticing core of crushed plum, blackberry and black currant confiture flavours. Long and velvety on the finish, with bay, tobacco and black tea accents checking in. This is suave, with fruit and terroir in spades, particularly for the vintage. Best from 2017 through 2025." The 2012 Malescot St. Exupéry has a sensual, red cherry, wild strawberry and blood orange scented nose with just a hint of dark chocolate coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with a sweet entry, high-toned with just a touch of VA. This feels a little muddled and tries to overcome the limitations of the growing season. Tasted blind at the Southwold Ten-Year On tasting. Neal Martin27th September 2022
