Lynch-Moussas 2006 is a Fifth Growth red wine from the Lynch-Moussas estate in Pauillac. This 2006 vintage is a blend dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon, reflecting the estate`s significant investment in vineyard management and modernised cellar facilities. The growing season produced a wine with a solid tannic frame and a classic Pauillac profile of cedar, cassis and leather. Now nearing two decades of age, the tannins have softened, revealing a medium-bodied and elegant palate with integrated oak. It represents a traditional and reliable expression of the appellation, offering great value for collectors who appreciate the more restrained and savoury side of mature Bordeaux.

Tasted at Bordeaux Index`s annual 10-Year On tasting in London and then at the château. The 2006 Château Lynch-Moussas seem mature on the nose with pleasant tobacco-tinged red berry fruit, plenty of forest floor aromas coming through. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly stringy tannin. It is missing some weight towards the second half, but there is still adequate freshness here to suggest that it will offer several more years of drinking pleasure. Tasted April 2016.
