Marchesi di Frescobaldi Luce 2010 is a full-bodied Sangiovese red wine produced in the Brunello di Montalcino appellation of Tuscany. Produced to express the diverse terroir of Montalcino, Luce is also a wine designed for the long-term. This 2010 iteration remains dense and powerful but has undoubtedly entered its drinking widow. "A big, dramatic wine, the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Luce saturates the palate with masses of intense dark fruit. Smoke, mocha, bittersweet chocolate, plum and cloves all open up in the glass. The 2010 is rich, creamy and voluptuous, with tons of texture and pure resonance. It can be enjoyed today or cellared for up to a decade, perhaps beyond. Stylistically, the Luce Brunello sits on the far edge of concentration and textural thickness, with an Amarone-like intensity. As such, the Luce Brunello is not varietally expressive, but rather needs to be taken on its own terms.
