Distilled in 1968, Longmorn-Glenlivet 1968 is a 55 Year Old Speyside single malt, released by Gordon & MacPhail, known for its commitment to showcasing the distillery`s heritage. The whisky has matured in a combination of American and European oak casks, which contributes to its distinct profile. The aroma reveals layers of dried tropical fruits, balanced with subtle beeswax and polished wood. The palate features notes of orange peel alongside spices that unfold gradually, reflecting the whisky’s long maturation. The mouthfeel is characterised by its oily texture, reinforcing the complexity developed over decades.

A Bold Speyside Spirit

The distillery buildings that would eventually become Longmorn were completed in 1894 by John Duff and company. Longmorn itself was officially founded in 1897 with Longmorn II following a year later on the plot next door. Longmorn II would soon be renamed BenRiach, a distillery still in operation today. John Duff and company eventually went bankrupt in 1909 following attempts to establish distilleries in American and South America and the distillery changed hands. Seagram acquired Longmorn in 1978 and the distillery eventually passed to Pernod Ricard after a series of acquisitions and mergers.

Sherry oak is favoured at Longmorn and the result is a rich, full spirit with notes of dried fruit, spice and citrus oils. The distillery has proven track record of producing spirit hardy enough to withstand extended oak-ageing with venerable independent bottlings from Gordon and MacPhail proving a hit with Speyside lovers.
