This is a unique and limited release from the Lochlea distillery, which is located in the Ayrshire region of Scotland. The whisky is named after the farm where the distillery is situated, and the 2nd Crop refers to the second harvest of organic barley used to make this release. On the nose, the whisky offers aromas of honey, vanilla, and a hint of citrus fruit, as well as a subtle earthiness. On the palate, expect toffee, caramel and a touch of spice, leading to a gentle smokiness and lingering sweetness.

Lochlea

Small, but perfectly formed

One of the newest Lowland distilleries and a true 'barley to bottle' project. Founders Neil and Jen come from a agricultural background and, upon acquiring the farm in 2006, immediately saw the potential to grow a grain crop and produce whisky on their Ayreshire farm - thus Lochlea was born with distillery construction beginning in 2017.

Lochlea is on a small scale compared with most commercial Scottish distilleries. The team, lead by former Laphroaig distillery manage John Campbell produce approximately 180,000 litres of pure alcohol a year using a two tonne semi lauter mash tun, six Douglas Fir wooden washbacks and two bespoke stills. They fill approximately 30 casks per week.
