Littlemill was originally founded in 1772 on the borders of the Lowlands and the Highlands and claimed to be Scotland`s oldest distillery. It ceased operations in the mid-1990s and the building was destroyed in a fire in 2004. This is a rare bottle of Littlemill 1975 single malt, bottled in August 1999.

A Ghostly Lowlander

Littlemill is rumoured to be built on one of the oldest distilling sites in Europe, with suggestions that spirit might have been produced there as long ago as the 14th century. The distillery as we recognise it today was founded in 1772 by George Buchanan and was operated by various owners with some periods of closure until it finally stopped making whisky for good in 1994. During its life, Littlemill produced whisky in the traditional Lowland style, triple distilling its spirit, while also experimenting with double distillation and both peated and non-peated expressions.

A number of post-closure official editions are available alongside a selection of independent bottlings from the likes of Hunter Laing and Hart Brothers.
