The second wine of Graves estate, Château Liber Pater, named `Denarius` after the Roman coin, and produced in very small quantities from specific plots of vines. Owner-winemaker Loïc Pasquet purchased the estate in 2005. Highly sought after, the wines of Liber Pater have quickly achieved cult status. The 2015 vintage is described by the critic James Suckling as follows, "Soft and fruity with very pretty ripe fruit and lots of raspberry, blackberry and dark chocolate character. Full and velvety textured. Juicy style."

The 2015 Denarius has a similar bouquet to the bottle drunk two years earlier, however, the herbal element is accentuated here. It has modest complexity, coming across as quite New World in style. That is also the case for the palate—a view shared by several guests at this tasting. It’s quite enjoyable to drink, yet I find this no better, no worse than a mid-tier Cru Bourgeois.
