Previously known as the `Acte` series, Les Perrières de Lafleur is grown on Fronsac limestone and is vinified at Château Grand Village. The 2018 is a blend of 49% Merlot and 51% Cabernet Franc. Characterised by a clean minerality, this is a lighter style of right bank Bordeaux offered in glorious large format.

As ever it's the architecture in the mouth with Perrières that is immediately arresting, marking it out with its chalky tannins, core of cold ash, gunsmoke, blond tobacco, blueberry and redcurrant fruits, a freshness that belies the heat of the vintage, and a salty scrape on the finish. It took five years of looking for the right site before the Guinaudeau family began to make Les Perrières, and even then it was bottled under the name Acte until they were sure it was working. The site here is 80m above sea level, close to Fronsac and around 1C cooler than in Pomerol. A wonderful wine, 50% new oak.Jane Anson12th June 2024

Les Perrieres de Lafleur 2018 is deep garnet purple in color. It offers vanilla, chocolate, and cedar, over a core of plum preserves and Morello cherries, with a hint of cinnamon. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is taut and muscular, with elegant fruit layers and a mineral-tinged finish. Lisa Perrotti-Brown9th February 2023

The 2018 Les Perrières de Lafleur has a perfumed, floral, black cherry- and blueberry-scented nose that translates the opulence of the vintage, yet there is impressive control and this avoids blowsiness. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins countered by a keen line of acidity. Notes of black cherries and black olive lead to a sapid finish, perhaps just marred by a little heat on the aftertaste. Otherwise, there is plenty of potential here. Tasted from ex-château magnum at Kate & Kon's 40-Year vertical in Austria. Neal Martin2nd September 2025

Pomerol's Other Superstar

Château Lafleur has come to be recognised as one of greatest producers in Pomerol, offering wines of incredible balance, purity and elegance, with distinct mineral character. A stand out name for Bordeaux's Right Bank, the estate also produces a second red, Les Pensées de Lafleur, produced from a 0.68ha plot with its own distinct terroir - resulting in a lighter, more fragrant style compared to the Lafleur.

Despite both wines being classic blends of Cabernet Franc and Merlot with 20% new oak, the result is two quite different expressions: for example the the dominance of cigar-box and graphite Cabernet Franc complexity in the Lafleur.
