Les Iles Feray Ardèche Pierre Gonon 2023 is a Syrah from the Ardèche region of France. Produced from vines located near the Rhône river on granite and gneiss soils, this wine offers an immediate, juicy attack of fresh dark fruit, raspberry and black pepper, underscored by a subtle smokiness. The structure is elegant and refined, with firm, fine-grained tannins that define its profile, showcasing the producer`s ability to maintain clarity and grace in all their bottlings. The Gonon brothers apply the same organic, low-yield philosophy here as they do in their Saint-Joseph parcels, ensuring the wine remains true to its specific site.

Notes of rose, dark cherries, orange peel and raspberry preface the 2023 VdP de l`Ardeche Les Iles Feray Syrah, a medium to full-bodied, seamless and enveloping wine with powdery tannins enhanced by a fresh mid-palate and saline finish that is beautifully balanced and ethereal. It tastes like the essence of Syrah. This is a co-fermented blend of 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne. - Yohan Castaing

The 2023 Les Îles Féray l'Ardeche is delicious as it opens with intense dark cherry, peppery scents, crushed graphite and orange rind. Black-fruited and spicy, the medium-bodied 2023 shows well at this early stage, following through with notable freshness on the elegant finish. Nicolas Greinacher28th January 2026

In reality, young vine St-Joseph. Tank sample.
Loads of charm. Lively and fresh with energy on the palate. Violet and spice to the fore. Light structure but who cares – this is for now. (JL)James Lawther15th October 2024
