Les Griffons de Pichon Baron 2016 is the second wine of Château Pichon Baron, located in the Pauillac region of Bordeaux. This blend comprises predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, reflecting the characteristics of the 2016 vintage. The nose reveals a complex array of blackcurrant, raspberry and a touch of cedar wood. On the palate, the wine is structured with a firm tannic backbone, showcasing concentrated fruit and a subtle mineral undertone. Pichon Baron, classified as a Second Growth in the 1855 Bordeaux classification, is known for its dedication to crafting wines with a long ageing potential, underpinned by the unique terroir of their vineyards.
88 Robert Parker
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2016 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron gives aromas of tar, sautéed herbs and earth over a cassis and baked cherries core. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and chewy, finishing with an herbal lift.
17 Jancis Robinson
52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot. 60% new oak. Production is 30% of Pichon Baron production. Meant for ageing. Glossy, dark crimson – very dense. Rich and racy and much more subtlety than the Tourelles. Inky finish. Good energy. (JR)
