‘Les Griffons’ is a new addition to Château Pichon-Longueville Baron’s portfolio, a Second Growth wine estate situated in the Pauillac appellation. Created since the 2012 vintage, it is sourced from the same vineyard plots as the Grand Vin, and is aged for the same length of time, but blended to achieve a softer structure. The 2015 vintage is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, aged 60% in new barrels, 40% from barrels of one vintage for 18 months. A soft and velvety wine, with gentle, precise tannins.

The 2015 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron is dense, powerful and quite juicy, with plenty of black cherry, menthol, licorice and smoke overtones nuances that all build in the glass. Polished and racy to the core, the 2015 is a terrific choice for drinking over the next decade or so.Antonio Galloni1st February 2018

A Super Second Classed Growth

Château Pichon Baron is celebrated for its Grand Vin, a Pauillac Second Growth which comes from the oldest vines grown on the historic plots of the estate. A beautiful red, displaying a superb black fruit profile with spicy hints. Château Pichon Baron shows great elegance, intensity and exceptional length on the palate. A well-balanced blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

The Château also produces two second wines, the Cabernet-focused Les Griffons de Pichon Longueville and the Merlot-dominant Les Tourelles de Pichon Longueville. The 73 hectare estate is planted to 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot.
