Les Forts de Latour 2019 is a carefully crafted wine produced from select parcels of Château Latour’s vineyards. First released in 1966, this wine is not merely a second selection, as it draws from both young and old vines, excluding the young vines designated for the more accessible Pauillac de Latour. The 2019 vintage benefits from the estate`s meticulous vineyard practices. Château Latour is a revered Bordeaux First Growth dating back to the 14th century, illustrating a rich history of winemaking expertise.
95 The Wine Independent
Composed of 65.8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31.9% Merlot, and 2.3% Petit Verdot, the 2019 Les Forts de Latour is deep garnet-purple in color. It opens with classic scents of cedar, cassis, and plum preserves, followed by suggestions of bay leaves, lavender, and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate is tight-knit, bright, and refreshing, with fine-grained tannins and a mineral-laced finish.Lisa Perrotti-Brown1st May 2023

The 2019 Les Forts de Latour appears to have tightened up a little since I last tasted it a few years ago. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet cassis fruit mingled with hints of cedar, iris, orange zest and new oak, it`s medium to full-bodied, lively and nicely concentrated, with a ripe core of fruit underpinned by chalky structuring tannins. While it`s approachable after a decant, it certainly merits additional patience. As readers will remember, this bottling mostly derives from dedicated parcels located further inland from Latour`s famous "Enclos," next to Château Haut-Batailley. - William Kelley
94 Vinous
The 2019 Les Forts de Latour has an open nose, strangely perhaps a little more expressive than the 2020 Pauillac de Latour at the moment. Scents of blackberry, cassis and iris flower unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with crushed stone infusing the black fruit. This has attained more linearity since I encountered it in January 2023. The 2019 will give two or three decades of pleasurable drinking.Neal Martin17th February 2025

Inky, great depths with a vivid violet rim, this is exceptional, balanced and full of character. Coming out of its serious early years, showing fleshy plum, damson and cassis fruits, along with graphite, slate, fennel and toast. If you like your wines particuarly powerful, you can go for it now and over the next few years, but it will age for a good few decades from here. Chiselled, very much speaking of its Pauillac heritage. 70% new oak for ageing, 39% of Latour's production in this vintage. A Towering First Growth

Situated on the Bordeaux's Left Bank in the appellation of Pauillac, this superb First Growth is produced from the estate's 92ha of vines, spread across 138 plots, (47 hectares of which are located in renowned 'L'Enclos'). The clay and gravel soils give superbly concentrated, textural Cabernet Sauvignon dominant reds, with Merlot and smaller percentages of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc making up the blend.

The estate also produces two further celebrated reds, Les Forts de Latour and Pauillac de Latour. Certified organic since 2018, biodynamic techniques are also used in the vineyard.
