Les Forts de Latour is the second wine of First Growth Château Latour which made its debut in 1966 and is produced from the young vines of the Grand Enclos. Critic Jane Anson describes the 2014 vintage as follows. "Extremely fresh, hedgerow and cassis bud backed up by richer seams of liquorice and blackberry."

Released four years ago, this retains bright vivid plum and black cherry fruit, cedar spices, with rich plum pudding concentration and muscular Pauillac tannins, a superlative 2nd wine that shines with appellation character. Last time I tasted this I called it the epitome of a great 94 point wine, and I fully stand by that assessmebt. Hélène Genin technical director.Jane Anson12th June 2024

The 2014 Les Forts de Latour has one of the most impressive aromatics amongst the Pauillac, with blackberry, cedar and cassis notes. A touch of pencil lead comes through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins. It's fresh and saline, with brisk graphite-infused black fruit towards the persistent, fleshy, silky finish. Outstanding for a Deuxième Vin. Tasted blind at the Southwold 10-Year-On tasting. Neal Martin19th March 2024

Medium to deep garnet-brick in color, the 2014 Les Forts de Latour delivers notes of dried Provence herbs and unsmoked cigars to start off, opening out to a core of preserved plums and Christmas cake plus a hint of cardamom. The medium-bodied palate is chewy and a little tart, with savory flavors and a rugged, herbal finish.Lisa Perrotti-Brown5th March 2024

A Towering First Growth

Situated on the Bordeaux's Left Bank in the appellation of Pauillac, this superb First Growth is produced from the estate's 92ha of vines, spread across 138 plots, (47 hectares of which are located in renowned 'L'Enclos'). The clay and gravel soils give superbly concentrated, textural Cabernet Sauvignon dominant reds, with Merlot and smaller percentages of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc making up the blend.

The estate also produces two further celebrated reds, Les Forts de Latour and Pauillac de Latour. Certified organic since 2018, biodynamic techniques are also used in the vineyard.
