Les Forts de Latour 1982 is the second wine of Château Latour, a renowned First Growth in Pauillac, Bordeaux. The estate spans 78 hectares, predominantly planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and a small percentage of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. This vintage was produced from younger vines and parcels excluded from the Grand Vin, benefiting from the rigorous vineyard practices of Latour. The wine exhibits a blend of blackcurrant, graphite and hints of leather, with a structured palate and noticeable tannins. Les Forts de Latour consistently reflects the intricate characteristics of its origin.

The 1982 Les Fort de Latour has a wonderful bouquet that roots your feet to the spot: black fruit, graphite, smoke and cedar with brilliant delineation and poise, despite the intensity. The palate is medium-bodied, with dense and quite robust tannin, huge weight and density. Honest to God, I actually thought this might be the Grand Vin before its identity was revealed. It dovetails its a savory, black truffle and gravel tinged finish that lingers long in the mouth. Very impressive. Tasted at the Latour dinner in Hong Kong. Neal Martin1st July 2018

A Towering First Growth

Situated on the Bordeaux's Left Bank in the appellation of Pauillac, this superb First Growth is produced from the estate's 92ha of vines, spread across 138 plots, (47 hectares of which are located in renowned 'L'Enclos'). The clay and gravel soils give superbly concentrated, textural Cabernet Sauvignon dominant reds, with Merlot and smaller percentages of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc making up the blend.

The estate also produces two further celebrated reds, Les Forts de Latour and Pauillac de Latour. Certified organic since 2018, biodynamic techniques are also used in the vineyard.
