Château Léoville Poyferré 2015 is a complex expression of St Julien, crafted by a vineyard with a history dating back to the 17th century. This particular vintage is predominantly composed of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 8% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc. It showcases a dense purple hue, indicative of its concentration. The palate reveals layers of blackcurrant and plum, complemented by herbal nuances and firm tannins. This wine presents a structured yet balanced profile, making it suitable for ageing. Notably, Léoville Poyferré has consistently aimed for quality, reflecting its deep-rooted heritage and commitment to excellence.
95 Vinous
The 2015 Léoville-Poyferré has more fruit intensity and swagger on the nose compared to the previous vintage with luxuriant red berry fruit, orange blossom and vanilla pod. The oak is not becoming more assimilated. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannins, sweet and sensual, maybe it does not quite possess the tension of the 2014, yet there is such weight and harmony on the finish that this is nigh impossible to resist. Gorgeous. Tasted at the Léoville-Poyferré vertical at the château with Sara Lecompte Cuvelier.
94 Robert Parker
The 2015 Leoville Poyferre is deep garnet-purple colored with a nose of grilled meats, baked plums, crème de cassis and baker`s chocolate with nuances of dusty soil and iron ore plus a hint of bay leaves. Medium to full-bodied, very firm and muscular in the mouth, it is built like a brick house with a mineral-tinged finish. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
