Château Léoville-Poyferré is a Second Growth estate situated in the Saint-Julien appellation. The property is currently owned by the Cuvelier family, which has a long history in the wine trading business in Bordeaux. The 1985 vintage of Château Léoville-Poyferré has fully evolved over the past few decades, displaying a mature character with tertiary notes and a smooth texture.
90 Vinous
The 1985 Léoville-Poyferré has a ripe bouquet with black cherries, black truffle, gamey scents and burning embers. The medium-bodied palate has a lovely texture, smooth and rounded. Secondary notes of allspice, truffle and dried blood emerge towards the harmonious if not amazingly complex finish. It is probably coming to the end of its drinking plateau, though larger formats could be interesting. Tasted at the vertical tasting with Didier Cuvelier in 2009.Neal Martin20th September 2022
