Château Léoville Barton 2010 is a robust Bordeaux blend from the Saint-Julien appellation. This wine comprises Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc, showcasing the estate`s classical approach. The Jeroboam format allows for slower, more gradual maturation. The 2010 vintage is noted for its high extract and acidity, contributing to its longevity and structure.

Softened plum in colour, still very closed on the aromatics but there's no hiding the quality underneath, chocolate drops, blueberry, damson, confident architecture packed with chalky tannins. A big vintage that needs more time. 60% new oak barrels for ageing, harvest 28 September to 8 October.Jane Anson10th October 2024

The 2010 Léoville Barton is cut from a very different cloth to the Langoa this year with more amplitude on the nose and more red fruit. It is very well delineated, very intense with almost honey-like aromas emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent, ripe tannins. This is a multi-dimensional Léoville-Barton with tobacco-infused black fruit gripping the finish and not letting go. Afford this wine another few years in bottle. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at the BI Wines & Spirits 10-Year On tasting. Neal Martin1st April 2020

Classic Bordeaux Beyond Compare

Hailing from the appellation of Saint Julien in Bordeaux, Château Leoville Barton has been family-run since 1826 with the famous Anthony Barton raising the estate to ever greater heights in the second half of the 20th century and his daughter Lilian taking the reins in recent years.

A superb quality Second Growth, Château Leoville Barton is renowned for producing old-school wines that are intensely structured and often require extended cellaring before entering their prime drinking window. The estate also produces an excellent quality second wine, La Réserve de Barton, a red wine produced from young vines. Vineyard holdings cover 51 hectares - planted to 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
