Château Léoville Barton 2011 is a Left Bank Bordeaux blend from the Saint-Julien appellation. Comprising predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, with Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this mature bottling presents aromas of blackcurrant, tobacco and subtle oak. On the palate, the tannins are firm, supporting flavours of dark fruit and earthy notes, leading to a balanced and structured finish.

The 2011 Léoville-Barton has an endearing nose with well-defined red berry fruit, cedar, pencil box and light sous-bois aromas that unfold with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fine depth and precision, well-integrated oak and a tensile, quite saline finish that is elegant and persistent. This is a beautiful 2017 that should age with style. Tasted blind at the annual 10-Year-On tasting.Neal Martin1st April 2022

Firmly structured, dense and medium-bodied with moderate tannin, this austere and backward yet well-endowed 2011 needs 5-7 years of bottle age. Whether the fruit holds up to the tannic structure remains to be seen, but the dark ruby/purple color, purity and impressive depth as well as concentration augur well for future positive development. Forget this 2011 for 5-6 years and drink it over the following 15-20.Robert Parker30th April 2014

Classic Bordeaux Beyond Compare

Hailing from the appellation of Saint Julien in Bordeaux, Château Leoville Barton has been family-run since 1826 with the famous Anthony Barton raising the estate to ever greater heights in the second half of the 20th century and his daughter Lilian taking the reins in recent years.

A superb quality Second Growth, Château Leoville Barton is renowned for producing old-school wines that are intensely structured and often require extended cellaring before entering their prime drinking window. The estate also produces an excellent quality second wine, La Réserve de Barton, a red wine produced from young vines. Vineyard holdings cover 51 hectares - planted to 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc.
