Fattoria Le Pupille Saffredi 2010 is a coastal Tuscan blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. The 2010 vintage is regarded as one of the best in recent history for the region, offering a perfect balance between fruit concentration and fresh acidity. The magnum format has allowed this wine to mature slowly, keeping the primary fruit flavours of blackcurrant and plum remarkably vibrant. Aged for 18 months in French oak, it has integrated notes of cedar, graphite and dark chocolate. The palate is dense and layered, with a silky texture and a persistent mineral finish that reflects the sandstone terroir of the Maremma.

Le Pupille`s 2010 Saffredi comes across as light weight and fleeting in this vintage, with little of the depth, power or richness that has been the norm here, especially over the recent past.Antonio Galloni1st August 2013

50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, 5% Syrah. There was cool, rainy weather throughout the year and a slow ripening of the grapes resulting in a delayed harvest. Luca D’Attoma was responsible for the final blend of the wine. Harvest between 15 September and 10 October. 30,000 bottles produced.
???????Alluring sweet ink on the nose. Relatively subtle nose and then some dusty tannins on the end. Lots of energy and life. Rather lower key than some vintages, which is no bad thing. A bit closer to Bordeaux than Tuscany? (JR)Jancis Robinson21st November 2019
